Carlo Ancelotti finds himself under intense scrutiny after Real Madrid succumbed to a disappointing 3-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The heavy defeat leaves Real Madrid staring at the prospect of an early exit from the UEFA Champions League. It follows a 2-1 home loss to Valencia last weekend which dented the Merengues’ La Liga title chances as well.

As such, there is intense pressure on Ancelotti, with his future at the club also being called into question.

Has Ancelotti lost the dressing room?

Amidst all this, journalist Ramon Alvarez reports that Ancelotti, for most of the season, has been feeling that the Real Madrid stars have not been following his pre-match plans.

This follows reports from earlier in the day which claimed that the club hierarchy was growing concerned about the lack of proper attitude as well as the growing complacency within the squad.

The Italian tactician has struggled to get the best out of a very talented squad filled with quality across the pitch this season, although injuries and lack of depth in certain positions have not helped matters.

Nevertheless, the manager, all through the season, has felt that his strategies and instructions are not being followed by his players, which is bound to raise eyebrows.

Only last night, during the game against Arsenal, Ancelotti passed on some information to Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham, and the latter looked far from happy with what was said.

Furthermore, at a time when Ancelotti has been calling for all his forwards, to contribute defensively, the team’s distance covered numbers from last night’s game, in comparison to that of Arsenal, appear underwhelming.

While the exact situation behind the scenes remains unclear, what is certain is that Real Madrid and Ancelotti are under intense pressure to change things in the coming weeks if they are to end the season with some success at least.
