The 28-year-old shotstopper joined Man Utd in the summer of 2023 from Inter Milan, and has made over 90 appearances for the club.

He is the first-choice keeper at Old Trafford, but not everyone is happy with his recent performances. Onana can be error-prone at times, although a shaky defence ahead of him hasn’t helped.

According to a report from iNews, United are considering signing a new goalkeeper this summer as part of their rebuilding plans. The goalkeeper could be a potential first-choice or understudy to Onana.

However, Onana is confident that his position is not under any threat at the moment.

Souces have told The iPaper that the Cameroon goalkeeper is unfazed by the speculation that he maybe replaced. Onana feels that he has the backing of his manager with whom he has a good relationship.

Should Man Utd look to sell Andre Onana?

Onana has been unconvincing throughout the season, and Amorim wants to bring in someone who can challenge for the number one spot.

Altay Bayindir has shown promise as a deputy, but Garcia will be a huge upgrade if the Red Devils manage to sign him.

The process of goalkeeping recruitment has changed over the years. Nowadays, top Premier League clubs do not sign two high-quality goalkeepers at the same time who would compete for the number one role.

For instance, David Raya and Alisson are the first-choice at Arsenal and Liverpool respectively, but they have reliable back-up keepers.

Bayindir is a reliable back-up option, and he can do a decent job for the club in cup games or if the first-choice keeper gets injured. If the club really want to sign a new keeper, they should look to replace Onana.
