Ange Postecoglou confirms lengthy injury absence for Tottenham star | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur could be without injured left-back Destiny Udogie for up to six weeks, manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed.

The Italian was replaced in the early stages of Spurs' 2-2 draw with Wolves last weekend, adding to a heavily depleted backline that has been missing Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies in recent weeks.

Udogie was replaced by Sergio Reguilon, who was made available for transfer in the summer, and now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"No, unfortunately, no," Postecoglou told reporters when asked if any of his injured players would be back to face Newcastle United on Saturday.

"So there’s Destiny obviously with these hamstring you know, it looks around the sort of six-week mark for him missing, obviously we lose [Rodrigo] Bentancur suspended, none of the injured ones are kind of back yet. We had a bit of an illness bug running through the squad as well, so a few missing training, but that’s alright, we’ll be ok.

"Richy [Richarlison] and Mikey [Moore] will be the next two off the rank, hopefully next week at some point and then Ben [Davies], Micky van de Van and Romero all kind of around the same time, so that back end of January, they're all sort of slated to return."

Spurs' miserable run of injuries has coincided with a number of below-par performances, leaving the Europa League hopefuls in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

They have picked up just four points from the last 18 available - losing four of their previous six matches - but do still possess the division's second-most prolific attack - 41 goals have been scored by Postecoglou's side, behind only league leaders Liverpool.
