According to a report from The Guardian, Angel Gomes (24) is set to snub West Ham’s efforts to secure his signature.

The former Manchester United player who has shone at times for Lille OSC since joining the Ligue 1 side in 2020 (even earning a call-up last winter to the England squad under interim head coach Lee Carsley) is out of contract in the summer and a clear target for multiple clubs across Europe.

West Ham have looked to swoop for the midfielder as they attempt to add some dynamism to their squad with The Guardian writing that they had offered a contract worth £100,000 per week. However, sources tell the English outlet that they are not confident of securing a deal.

Angel Gomes remains at Lille for the international break

The midfielder has not been called up to the England squad for Thomas Tuchel’s first matches in charge of The Three Lions after a stuttering season that has seen him miss multiple games since returning from a calf injury at the start of the new year.
