Turkish international Arda Guler is determined to make his mark with Real Madrid despite his lack of game time.
The 20-year-old joined Madrid in 2023 after creating huge waves with Fenerbahce but has struggled to secure a regular place in the first team.
A long-term injury limited Guler to only 13 appearances in all competitions in his debut season.
Although his game time has considerably increased this term, he has failed to nail down a place in the starting XI.
The Turkish prodigy has started only in 10 out of 30 games this term, racking up three goals and five assists.
Guler was reportedly considering leaving due to a rift with manager Carlo Ancelotti, but he has insisted he wants to prove himself with Madrid.
“Madrid gave me a plan, and I still believe in it,” Guler told Marca.
“I’m sure I’ll triumph in Madrid – I’ve even bought a house in Madrid. I work very hard, and I am always ready to play.
“I love Madrid fans and their support is a great value to me – I am very grateful to them.
“I came to Madrid to play and be an important piece of this team. And I’m not going to stop fighting until I get it.”
While he has struggled to shine with Madrid, Guler has grown into an integral member of the Turkish national team with his impressive performances.
He helped Turkey reach the 2024 European Championship quarter-finals before losing to the Netherlands.
The Los Blancos star also scored in Turkey’s recent 3-0 win over Hungary in the Nations League.
Guler has shown his world-class attacking potential and defensive work rate, even with limited opportunities at Madrid.
However, it will be difficult for him to break into the team ahead of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Jude Bellingham.
