At least eight Arsenal fans have been arrested in Uganda following the Gunners’ victory over Manchester United, per the BBC.

Arsenal welcomed their fierce rivals to the The Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners have been in sensational form this season and were looking to re-establish their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

They managed to do just that as they emerged 3-2 victors.

Eddie Nketiah scored what turned out to be the winner for the north London outfit in the 89th minute.

It was a superb day for Arsenal, with fans around the world celebrating their side’s success against their rivals.

A group of Arsenal supporters in Uganda managed to get in serious trouble during their celebrations, though.

As reported by the BBC, a group of Arsenal fans took to the streets of Jinja on Monday morning to celebrate the victory.

The fans were wearing Arsenal shirts and travelled in a convoy of five vehicle.

One of the supporters even carried a symbolic trophy that they had bought at a local store.

But their celebrations came to a halt when police intervened.

The group were told they didn’t have a permit to hold the procession, which is a public order offence.

At least eight Arsenal supporters partaking in the celebrations were arrested.

Footage has emerged which appears to show the Arsenal supporters celebrating in the streets of Jinja before they were arrested.

Arsenal fan arrested in Uganda after Man Utd win speaks out

One of the supporters arrested, Baker Kasule, has spoken out.

“I don’t know what we have done but we were simply celebrating our victory over rivals Manchester United,” Kasule said.

While James Mubi, the regional police boss and a self-declared Arsenal fan, said: “What would happen if an altercation with rival fans broke out? They did not inform police to provide security for their procession.”

Mubi is also said to have wondered why they were celebrating when only half of the matches in the season had been played.

When do Arsenal play their next game?

Arsenal are next in action on Friday January 27 when they travel to Manchester City for a mouth-watering FA Cup fourth round tie.

Their next Premier League match comes against Everton at Goodison Park on February 4.
