Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side are looking to add more attacking players in the January transfer window, and Football Insider has reported that the Gunners are doing all that they can to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window of 2025.
Cunha moved to Wolves in January 2023 from Atletico Madrid after not having the best of times in the Spanish capital. However, he settled well in England, and hence Wolves triggered the buy clause worth £44 million in the summer transfer window of 2023.
Cunha has been performing at his best this season. He has been their main player this season after having already amassed 10 goals and four assists in the 19 matches that he has played in the Premier League so far this season. His performances have been so good that many clubs are interested in the player in the winter transfer window itself.

Gabriel Jesus has failed to inspire the confidence of Arteta in the striker’s position, and the manager has used Kai Havertz, out of position as the striker. However, the North London club desperately needs a potent striker and hence are interested in landing the 25-year-old in January.
Mikel Arteta is hell-bent on securing the target before the transfer window ends, but Wolves won’t want to sell their player mid-season as they are struggling to survive in the league. The former Atletico player is the most important ace for the side, and hence they desperately want to keep him at all costs. Vitor Pereira feels that Cunha is their greatest bet to help the side avoid relegation from the Premier League. So, Arteta’s side won’t find it easy to convince Wolves to sell the striker.
The player possesses a combination of pace, skills, and versatility. He can play as a central striker and also as a winger. Cunha is a good dribbler and has great physical strength. His innate ability to score and create goals will make him a vital asset for Arsenal.
Bukayo Saka’s injury has caused problems for the North London side, as he has been their most important player. He is set to be sidelined for many weeks, and hence the Gunners want a top-notch striker to complement the goal-scoring duties. It remains to be seen if they can go on to sign the Wolves player in this window.
