Arsenal have completed a deal for teenage midfielder Kyran Thompson from West Ham United, pipping Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United to his services, according to the Secret Scout.
The Secret Scout – a reputable source for youth football and transfer news – claimed on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) back in July that the 15-year-old was set to join Spurs until Arsenal made a late move for him.
The Gunners and Newcastle presented Thompson with their projects, and he has opted for Arsenal ahead of other suitors after leaving the Hammers.
The teenage sensation will now link up with the youth team at Hale End as the Premier League’s five-step ratification has been done.
Thompson was a part of the Kent Elite Team (scouting group) at a very early age before he joined West Ham, and he will now look to establish himself as a key player for the youth teams at Arsenal upon returning to the North London club.
The versatile youngster can play as a winger and also as a No. 10, and the Gooner’s youth development program attracted him ahead of that of Spurs and co.
Gunners under-18s starlet Max Dowman made history in the UEFA Youth League last week, scoring against Atalanta aged 14 years, eight months and 19 days to become the youngest player to find the back of the net in the history of the competition.
Thompson will look to break into the Jack Wilshere-managed side and catch the eyes of first-team manager Mikel Arteta going forward, and it will be intriguing to see how his progress goes.
