Arsenal fans offered me their season tickets £50 each for Newcastle match but knocked them back this time…

Last Sunday, me and my son sat down to watch the Arsenal v Newcastle United game at home.
Tickets had been offered in the Arsenal end, as my Gunners supporting work colleagues had “given up” on their team (they tell me they didn’t watch the game on TV) and they wanted fifty quid each for a ticket in their end.
I did consider it…but thought an afternoon of TV footie with my son, rather than sitting on my hands and not speaking, was a better option this time.
My wife was running the Hackney half marathon, so I did get the chance of travelling on the underground with Geordies and Gooners pre-game to get that sense of atmosphere.
The first half of of the match did not yield the golden goal for Champions League that our play deserved and that was that.
Next Sunday, we cannot wait.
I predict we will get Champions League.
We should do it, though football has a horrible knack of throwing the cards up in the air, especially when it comes to Newcastle United.
At times, The Mag fires out questions to contributors, with one of the regular questions that often features – win a trophy or finish top four (or five…) and get Champions League?
I am firmly in the camp of trophy.
We now have our first domestic trophy for seventy years.
We are on the verge of Champions League but if the gods see fit to deny Newcastle United that place, then I will not be upset.
We have had a fantastic season.
We have a great manager who I believe is our man for the future.
We have a group of players who I love.
Who could not love Dan Burn, especially after that goal at Wembley?
If we do not make Champions League, relax and think about that trophy being lifted and the others that are on their way.
Not many people predicted Champions League spot at the start of the season.
Stay humble, because when we stick it up them, up the horrible self-styled football elite of the Premier League, the feeling will be so much sweeter.
