In a recent report, Sport BILD (via Sport Witness) claimed that Arsenal have set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson this summer. It has been mentioned that the Gunners have identified the Swedish youngster as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Larsson’s Impressive Rise In German Football

Larsson has caught the eye with his performances at the heart of Frankfurt’s midfield. The 19-year-old has made 32 appearances for the German outfit this season, netting two goals and picking up two assists on all fronts.

The talented teenager has anchored the midfield relatively well as he is averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per game in the Bundesliga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield after making 86.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Is Larsson A Good Option For Arsenal?

Larsson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team at the centre of the park when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

At the moment, the Swedish whizkid is enjoying his football at Frankfurt. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.

At 19, the future looks quite promising for Larsson as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is already good enough to serve as a solid, rotational piece in Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s match-day squad.

Therefore, Larsson would be an excellent choice for the Gunners to pursue in the long run. He might even help the North London club compete for some major honours over the next decade. With all things considered, he would be an excellent option for Arsenal to consider when the transfer window reopens at the end of this campaign.
