Arsenal in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Real Sociedad star | OneFootball

Premier League giants Arsenal are on the verge of closing a deal for a leading member of the midfield ranks at Real Sociedad.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, citing Arsenal insider Sami Mokbel, who point towards Martín Zubimendi as the player in question.

Midfielder Zubimendi was of course hotly tipped for a move to England last summer, after Liverpool agreed to pay the release clause in the Spaniard’s contract.

In the end, the transfer fell through, after Zubimendi himself made the call to stay put at Anoeta.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, then the 25-year-old’s long-rumoured Real Sociedad exit will finally be forthcoming later this year.

This comes with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal closing on an agreement with Zubimendi and his entourage.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Martin Zubimendi for summer 2025. Negotiations underway with player side as positive talks took place behind the scenes. Arsenal plan to trigger €60m release clause.’
