Premier League rivals Arsenal have reportedly established contact with Manchester United to explore the possibility of signing Marcus Rashford.

Rashford has made it clear that he is ready for a new challenge away from United, having fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

The England international found the back of the net three times in the first two games under Amorim but has barely featured since.

Amorim left the player out of four consecutive matchday squads due to “training and selection” reasons. He was reinstated for last week’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle but was an unused substitute. Rashford missed the 2-2 draw with Liverpool due to illness.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Rashford including AC Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Como, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray.

At the moment, Milan’s interest appears to be the strongest, with the player’s agent and brother jetting to Italy earlier this week to hold talks with the Rossoneri’s chiefs.

Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for Rashford and Mikel Arteta’s side may very well have joined the race to land his signature this month.

Italian journalist Massimo Marianella spoke on Calciomercato – L’origine Live [via The Sun] and revealed, “It seems that Arsenal have made a phone call to Manchester United for Rashford.”

“The club has valued him at £25million.”

As a homegrown player, Rashford’s sale would be recorded as “pure profit” on United’s books, a factor that makes a transfer even more appealing to United.

The 27-year-old has contributed seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances this term.

United return to action on Sunday when they face Arsenal at the Emirates in the third round of the FA Cup. Kick-off is at 15:00 GMT.
