William Saliba sloppy again but Myles Lewis-Skelly bounces back from Champions League struggles in duel with Mohamed Salah
Arsenal produced a spirited fightback as they came from two goals down to earn a draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Premier League champions had looked on course to claim all three points after first-half goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
However, the Gunners fought back after the break as Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino both found the back of the net.
Merino’s afternoon ended on a sour note, though, as he was sent off with 11 minutes to go for a second yellow card.
Standard Sport’s Simon Collings was at Anfield to rate the Arsenal players’ performances...
David Raya 7
One of Arsenal’s better players during a poor first half. Made a great save at point-blank range from Diaz and another fine one from Curtis Jones.
Ben White 6
Looked a little off the pace early on, but found some rhythm - especially after the break. Lively going forward.
William Saliba 5
The Frenchman has been prone to a few errors recently and was sloppy again here, especially for Liverpool’s opening goal.
Jakub Kiwior 6
His lack of pace was exposed for Liverpool’s second goal, but he was otherwise fairly solid. A rarity in that he outperformed Saliba.
Myles Lewis-Skelly 7
Had a good battle with Mohamed Salah and managed to keep the Egyptian fairly quiet. Bounced back after a poor game in Paris.
Martin Odegaard 7
Looked much better when he had Martinelli as the No9 making runs in behind. Played his part in the equaliser as it was his brilliant strike that Alisson tipped onto the post.
Thomas Partey 6
Got stuck in a lot and did well not to pick up a booking. One of several players who was so much better after the break.
Mikel Merino 5
An afternoon of mixed fortunes for the Spaniard. Scored Arsenal’s equaliser but was sent off after picking up a yellow card in both halves.
Bukayo Saka 6
Should have put Arsenal ahead inside the opening three minutes. Had a few good mazy runs and was dangerous at times.
Leandro Trossard 6
Struggled in the first half as a false nine. Moved out to the flank after the break and improved, setting up Martinelli’s goal.
Gabriel Martinelli 7 | Star player
Moved through the middle after the break and looked sharp. Scored Arsenal’s first goal with a lovely glanced header.
