Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz has been managing a minor knee issue since the end of last season and he carried it over into the European Championship, according to the Sun.

The Germany international has pulled out of the Nations League games against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands later this month despite playing the full game when Arsenal took on Southampton at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

His country has confirmed his exclusion from the squad due to a knee problem, but the latest update from the Sun claims he has been managing the knock since May.

However, the Gunners are not sweating over the fitness of Havertz and they expect him to be fully fit and firing after the international break.

The 25-year-old has only missed two club games since August 2017 due toknee knocks, and he will now benefit from a much-needed rest before Arsenal return to action on October 19.

He has started and finished all the nine games the North Londoners have played across the Premier League and Champions League in 2024-25, featuring for 28 minutes in their Carabao Cup game against Bolton Wanderers.

Havertz has six goals and an assist in ten games so far this term, and Arsenal cannot afford to be without their number 9 going forward.

Pulling out of international duty will ensure any further damage or stress on the knee area is avoided, and he should be ready for the trip to Bournemouth after the break.

Arsenal host Shakhtar Donetsk and Liverpool afterwards, and they need all their key players available for those games.

Martin Odegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber and Ben White are also on the injury sidelines, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope most of them are back sooner rather than later.
