Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard produced a quality performance for Belgium during their 2-2 Nations League draw against Italy on the road.

The Azzurri had a bright beginning at the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts opened the scoring in the first minute through Andrea Cambiasso.

Mateo Retegui made it 2-0 for Italy in the 24th minute, and they looked on course for a routine victory until Lorenzo Pellegrini’s red card.

Pellegrini was sent off in the 40th minute and Maxim de Cuyper reduced the deficit for Belgium with a powerful curling strike just moments later.

Trossard provided the assist for the 23-year-old.

The Red Devils eventually pulled level in the 61st minute. Trossard scored a trademark goal with a clever tap-in on the volley in the six-yard box.

Trossard also won three duels and made four recoveries over 90 minutes.

The £29 million-rated star was dropped from the Belgium squad for the last international break, but he managed to reclaim his spot with good club displays.

With the injury blow for Martin Odegaard, Trossard has benefitted with a starting role up front. He has played alongside Kai Havertz in a 4-4-2 formation.

The 29-year-old has provided the perfect response on his return to national team duty. He will definitely start in Belgium’s next game against France at home.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that he can stay unscathed, particularly with a crucial run of games coming up.

Bukayo Saka picked up an apparent hamstring injury against Greece yesterday, and England will issue an update in due course.
