Arsenal received a fitness boost against Porto as Fabio Vieira was back in the matchday squad, so he will be an option for Mikel Arteta from the bench. Thomas Partey was not fit enough to make the squad then, but he has at least been back in training.

Trio Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Oleksandr Zinchenko all missed out in Portugal and are not expected to feature against Newcastle, whilst Jurrien Timber remains out of action. The midfield could be refreshed with the inclusion of Jorginho from the start.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Newcastle (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Rice, Jorginho; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.

Newcastle will be without striker Callum Wilson for the next 12 weeks thanks to his pectoral injury, but Alexander Isak is not far away from making his injury return for the Magpies. There may be a return to the side for former Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock.

Fans are sweating over the fitness of Fabian Schar after his wrist injury against Bournemouth, but he has been back in training and should start. Nick Pope, Elliot Anderson, Matt Targett and Joelinton are all out.

Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley; Almiron, Gordon, Barnes.

Arsenal vs Newcastle score prediction

Arsenal's disappointing result in the Champions League will certainly have caused some concern within the fanbase, especially as it was a first game in two years without a shot on target, but there is little reason to believe that it should have a big impact on their Premier League form.

The Gunners have hit their stride in recent weeks, are getting some midfield options back from injury, and will be a lot more confident than this Newcastle team which seems to be limping through.
