Former Ghana star Asamoah Gyan has stated that Uruguay’s World Cup elimination in the group stages is a case of karma for him.

Gyan was involved in the quarter-final game involving Ghana and Uruguay back in 2010 and he had missed the penalty which the country had won as a result of Luis Suarez’s handball. That is where the rivalry involving the two sides actually began and it was played out yesterday, as even though Ghana lost the game and Andre Ayew missed a penalty, Uruguay were knocked out because of South Korea’s win over Portugal.

Gyan appeared as a pundit on SuperSports TV and after the game, he stated: “They’re going home and this is karma for me”

During the same appearance, Gyan also stated that Ayew would need psychological counselling for the penalty miss, even though all of it is a part of the game.
