With the January transfer window open, Paris Saint-Germain has an opportunity to offload players who no longer fit into their plans—and Marco Asensio appears to be one of them.
Since November 30, Asensio’s role has diminished significantly. The former Real Madrid star has lost his spot in the starting lineup and has rarely featured off the bench.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that manager Luis Enrique doesn’t see him as a key part of his project, and with the transfer window closing in a few days, speculation about a potential exit has started to grow.

On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Aston Villa are in talks with PSG for Asensio, one of the prominent names on their list. Moreover, Romano’s reporting reveals that the Spaniard would be keen on a move to Villa.
Earlier this week, a report revealed that Aston Villa, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea, are reportedly interested in the Spanish international.
Among these suitors, Aston Villa is said to be leading the race for his signature. The report also highlights interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, and clubs in Saudi Arabia, suggesting the competition for Asensio remains open.
Negotiations for a potential permanent move this winter are ongoing, with a transfer fee expected to range between €15 million and €25 million, per the report.
