Aston Villa could struggle to sign Sevilla defender Loic Bade in the January transfer window despite making a very good offer.
Earlier today reports emerged that Villa are “very close” to securing a deal for Bade, but Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the player hasn’t accepted an offer from the Premier League club.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis, Villa made a €26 million offer for Bade but Sevilla do not want to sell the player.
The 24-year-old centre-back does not want to leave the La Liga club during the season.
Romano says the deal between Aston Villa and Sevilla is not advancing and is currently on “total stand-by”. It is not advancing at all.
Villa will look to sign a new centre-back in the January window after they sold Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce.
If they fail to reach an agreement with Sevilla and the player, they are most likely to look for other options.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports claim that Sevilla made an approach to sign Villa’s defender Lamare Bogarde.
The La Liga club expressed their desire to sign the 21-year-old versatile defender during their talks over Bade potentially moving to Villa.
However, Villa boss Unai Emery has made a bold decision. He wants to keep him in the squad, and has told all potential suitors that Bogarde won’t leave Villa Park in the January window, even if on loan.
Blackburn Rovers have also asked about loaning Bogarde, but Villa have given them the same response.
While Villa remains keen on signing Bade, the deal looks really difficult at the moment, especially when the player is not willing to leave the La Liga club.
