Atalanta captain Marten de Roon feels Inter Milan are “the strongest team in Serie A” and is expecting a hugely difficult match.
The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after yesterday’s 4-0 win over Juventus, via FCInterNews. He noted how La Dea always seem to struggle against the Nerazzurri.
Atalanta have certainly set up a mouth-watering match against Inter Milan next Sunday.
The Bergomo-based team did not just keep themselves within three points of Inter at the top yesterday. They did so in spectacular style.
Atalanta’s 4-0 demolition of Juventus was a real statement result. Particularly without the distraction of European football, they are ready to make a real run at the Serie A title.
And next weekend, Atalanta happen to take on the reigning champions and league leaders.
A result against the Nerazzurri would further bolster La Dea’s case as contenders for the title.
And in recent meetings, the Bergamo team have tended to underwhelm.

In fact, the last two league meetings have resulted in emphatic 4-0 wins for Inter – the same scoreline by which Atalanta brushed aside Juventus yesterday.
Meanwhile, Inter easily beat a heavily-rotated Atalanta team in the Supercoppa Italiana in January.
And Atalanta captain Marten de Roon admitted that “We never seem to be able to win against Inter.”
“And then we’re currently struggling at home,” added the former Middlesbrough midfielder.
“We have to build on [the win against Juventus],” the Atalanta captain said. “Have consistent performances.”
Against the Bianconeri, de Roon said, “we played an incredible match, of the highest level.”
“Now we have to prepare,” the 33-year-old continued. “Because Inter are the strongest team in the league.”
De Roon then added that “I don’t know if this is the best Atalanta team I’ve played for.”
“But we’re doing well. We’re in an historic position.”
