Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi has spoken about the game after the goalless draw against Arsenal, saying that Matteo Retegui’s epantly miss should not affect him mentally.

The biggest chance of a rather cagey and cautious game fell to Retegui, who took a penalty in the second half. But David Raya saved the spot-kick and also brilliantly denied him on the rebound, making sure that the Gunners kept the scoreline at 0-0 and that is how it ended as well.

Carnesecchi had a decent game but was left largely untroubled and he spoke to Sky Italia (via TMW) about the game, saying:

“Today we played a great match, we saw an excellent defensive phase. We found our physical form and we all play football for these nights.”

He also spoke about Retegui and his missed pantly, saying: “We are close to Retegui, he is strong and a really good guy. A missed penalty must not affect him”.

Carnesecchi did make an important save in the first-half, denying Bukayo Saka from a free-kick and also putting the rebound behind for a corner.

He spoke about it, saying: “It was important, but I want to compliment my teammates for the defensive phase. I reviewed last year’s defensive phase, it is a really important point for us.

“These nights I dream about as a child, I come from a very humble family and I dedicate this debut to them and to my teammates. I am very happy. This result will allow us to face Como in the best possible condition”.
