Atlético de Madrid blew a golden chance to move top of LaLiga when they imploded late on in stunning and uncharacteristic fashion to lose 2-1 at Getafe.
Scorers: Arambarri 88', 90+2'; Sørloth (PEN) 75'
Atleti were frustrated for much of the contest but looked like escaping with a big three points that would have sent them top of the table when they were awarded a controversial penalty for handball with 15 minutes remaining.
From the spot, Alexander Sørloth calmly stroked low to the goalkeeper's left for what looked to be a huge win - only for things to take a disastrous turn for Diego Simeone's men.
A VAR check with three minutes left resulted in birthday boy Ángel Correa being sent off for Atleti and from the resulting free-kick, Getafe equalised as Mauro Arambarri scuffled home after miskicking his initial effort.
The drama wasn't finished there either and Ambarri was the man of the moment again in injury-time when he diverted a wayward shot home with an instinctive finish in injury-time to leave Atleti shellshocked and hand them their third loss of the season - one which could see them overtaken by Real Madrid.
Next up for the wounded Colchoneros is the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against their city rivals, which they trail 2-1.
