Atletico Madrid or the MLS? Decision time for Antoine Griezmann | OneFootball

Antoine Griezmann’s (34) club future may soon be decided. As per L’Équipe, the former France international will meet with the Atletico Madrid hierarchy next week in order to evoke his future.

Griezmann’s contract at the La Liga side runs until the end of the season, however, there is an option included to extend by a further year. Atletico Madrid want to retain their forward, who is having an excellent campaign, but at what cost? Atletico Madrid may want to reduce Griezmann’s salary in order to retain him, however, that may not be to the liking of the Frenchman, who has not ruled out extending his stay in Madrid for a further 12 months.

However, Griezmann has always been tempted by the prospect of playing in the MLS, L’Équipe understands. He is much more tempted by the possibility of playing in the USA than playing in Saudi Arabia. The Gulf State are nonetheless expected to show strong interest.

If Griezmann does not make the move to the MLS, as Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud have recently done, this summer, then he likely will in the summer of 2026. Grizou is not expected to make an immediate decision following next week’s meeting but a final decision is certainly nearing.
