Atlético Mineiro have made a move to land Flamengo’s second-choice goalkeeper César.
According to GloboEsporte.com, Atlético have made contact with the player’s representatives and the Flamengo board.
The report insists that the Rubro-Negro are open to an offer to buy the 28-year-old stopper, but will not consider any loan deal.
Mineiro have been forced into action as it looks likely they will lose Cleiton – who is currently on international duty with Brazil’s U23 side – to RB Bragantino.
Cleiton has not been registered for the Copa Sudamericana, so Atlético face a race against time to find a suitable replacement between the sticks.
In addition to enquiring about César, Atlético are also keeping tabs on Cruzeiro’s Rafael.
Rafael desperately wants out of the Raposa. He has even gone so far as to take legal proceedings against the club to force an exit.
