Some unfortunate news emanating from the FC Augsburg camp this morning. One of the Bundesliga club’s professionals had to be publicly removed from training as part of an investigating into an alleged sexual assault. In a report filed on Augsburg today, Kicker conveyed knowledge of the player’s name while also noting that the name would be withheld as a matter of courtesy.

Sport Bild is not extending the same courtesy. According to the tabloid, 21-year-old former Bayern Munich academy man Yussuf Kabadayi is the player in question. Kabadayi hasn’t set foot on the pitch during the current 2025 calendar year. The summer signing presently rehabilitates a lateral ligament injury that necessitated surgery at the end of 2024.

Allegations, per the Augsburg district attorney’s office, remain serious. Kabadayi apparently spent two days in custody last week. Contacted by Bild for comment, the local prosecutorial office did take care to emphasize the presumption of innocence in a released statement.

Kabadayi made six relief appearances for Augsburg across all competitions this season. He picked up an assist in the opening round Pokal victory over Viktoria Berlin. He scored his maiden Bundesliga goal off the bench in a match-day three victory over St. Pauli.

In response to your inquiry, it can be confirmed that the Augsburg public prosecutor’s office is conducting a preliminary investigation against a professional footballer from FC Augsburg,” Bild’s published statement from the D.A. office reads. “The subject of the proceedings is, among other things, the accusation of a sexual offense reported by an acquaintance of the accused.

The investigation is ongoing,” the statement nevertheless concludes. “It must be pointed out that the presumption of innocence applies.
