Although FC Barcelona have three matches to play, including an El Clasico final of the Copa del Rey, ahead of the semi-final tie against Inter Milan, the high stakes involved in this latter game and the quality of the teams means that this game is already being looked forward to by the club’s fans and the followers of football in general.
Several commentators have already given their opinion on this upcoming match, highlighting the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two teams.
One of the more high-profile individuals who has commented on this tie is the former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the former Italian coach highlighted one of the deficiencies in this Barcelona team that Inter Milan can exploit:
“Barça’s players are very good, but if you get past their first line of pressure, you can really hurt them.”
Furthermore, the legendary AC Milan trainer also believed Lamine Yamal would not be too big a problem for the Italians:
“Lamine Yamal is not Messi. If Inter managed to stop Messi in 2010, they can do it again now against Barça with Lamine Yamal.”
Further talking about Yamal, the Italian claimed the Spaniard was still not as good as Messi:
“I’ve read some exaggerated comparisons about Lamine. He’s a kid who’s doing important things. When he started in Barcelona, people said he was the new Messi, but he hadn’t reached that level. He’s an extraordinary, spectacular, elite player, but he doesn’t have Messi’s genius.”
Undoubtedly, Yamal is still in the early phase of his career and has a long way to go before his comparisons with Lionel Messi can be justified. But there is also no doubt that he can prove to be the decisive player in this upcoming tie against Inter Milan, and the Barcelona youngster will be keen to showcase his talent at the highest level in these two games.
