Barcelona regained their three-point lead at the top of La Liga after beating Catalan neighbours Girona 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
It was the visitors who fired the first warning shot of the contest as Viktor Tsygankov blazed what would prove to be Girona's best moment of the half over. Barca were dominant thereafter as Paulo Gazzaniga was drawn into saves from Robert Lewandowski and the influential Lamine Yamal.
The goalkeeper's best work arrived from a set-piece as he prevented Ronald Araujo's header from breaking the deadlock. Girona seemed to settle after that, but Barca's pressure was relentless. The hosts opened the scoring in a fortuitous fashion as Ladislav Krejci deflected Yamal's free-kick into his own net.
The visitors continued to offer little at the start of the second half yet they equalised against the run of play after opting to press Barcelona high up the pitch. Arnaut Danjuma was on hand to finish having been found in behind by Daley Blind's lovely pass.
Girona weren't level for very long, though, as Pichichi leader Lewandowski responded to Kylian Mbappe's productive Saturday by restoring Barca's lead. The Polish forward later sealed Barcelona's victory with an emphatic finish after some excellent work in the middle of the park from Frenkie de Jong before the efficient Ferran Torres scored off the bench to wrap up a hefty derby win.
