Over the last 6-8 weeks, Barcelona’s injury luck has been even worse than usual. Ronald Araujo is out until December after picking up a hamstring problem while playing for Uruguay, while Pedri and Ansu Fati also suffered with issues that have caused them to miss several weeks. Unfortunately, another player has now been affected.

As reported by Relevo, Andreas Christensen has suffered an injury that will keep him out for the next two months. The Danish defender has been dealing with tendonitis issues over the summer, but until now, it’s yet to be known whether this is the reason that he will play no part for Barcelona until the end of October.

Christensen’s injury leaves Barcelona short in central defence. Hansi Flick only has Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Eric Garcia as senior option, although he can also count on Jules Kounde, who’s been playing right back for the last couple of seasons. It also ends any doubt on the 28-year-old’s future – he was linked with a possible exit, but now that won’t happen.
