For the most part, the recently closed 2025 winter transfer window was looking to be a rather quiet one for FC Barcelona. However, the market closed with a bang for the Blaugranes, as they got a significant injection of cash with the €60 million transfer of one of their former midfielders, Nico Gonzalez.

Thus, the Catalans were able to get around €13 million in their coffers in this transfer window, without having to part ways with any of their players whose departures they were looking forward to.

One such player who was linked with a move away from Barcelona in this winter window was the defender Andreas Christensen, who has played only a couple of minutes this season, mainly because he remained on the sidelines for almost the entirety of the season with his Achilles tendon injury.

But there were still some offers for him on the table, and SPORT reports that this was the case when the window closed, as a Bundesliga team’s offer arrived but was not even forwarded to Christensen as Barcelona were not convinced with the fee offered.

The Blaugranes were expecting to get around €15 million for him, and the offer from Germany was nowhere close to this sum. Thus, knowing that Christensen wants to stay at the Catalan club and return to being a key part of the team, they did not even entertain that offer.

With the winter market now closed, the Dane will now get to remain at Barcelona and thus compete for a starting role. However, his battle will not be easy with Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez being the preferred starters for Flick this season, while Ronald Araujo has also recently returned to action and renewed his contract.
