Barcelona will enter the market for reinforcements on the left wing come the summer transfer window of 2025.

Names such as Rafael Leao, Nico Williams, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and more recently Luis Diaz have emerged as potential targets for Hansi Flick’s men for next season.

However, of late, the name of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has also popped up as a possible option for the Blaugrana owing to the fact that the German international is set to become a free agent in the summer.

Barcelona have the edge over Premier League clubs

Sane, who turns 29 years old next month, is yet to finalise an agreement with the Bavarians, leading to question marks over his continuity and interest from several clubs, including Barcelona.

However, according to the Mirror, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea are all interested in signing the German winger, as early as January in fact.

But, it is further claimed that Barcelona may have the edge over the three English clubs as Sane shares a very special relationship with the Catalans’ manager Hansi Flick.

It was the current Barça head coach who signed Sane at Bayern back in the summer of 2020. Under him, the 28-year-old winger played 44 matches, scoring ten and assisting 12 goals, winning the sextuple.

The winger also worked under the German tactician with the national team.

Sane’s strong bond with Flick could prove telling in the transfer race, should Barcelona indeed decide to go after his signing to strengthen their left flank.

For now, though, there is nothing concrete, with the Blaugrana largely looking at him as a low-cost alternative if he does not renew his contract with the Bundesliga heavyweights.
