The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have kicked into gear negotiations with the entourage of Santos and Brazil superstar Neymar Jr, over a potential reunion.
That’s according to transfer expert David Ornstein, who has on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Wide-man Neymar, for his part, is fresh off a return to his home country, after linking up with boyhood club Santos on a short-term deal through the summer.
The 33-year-old has since enjoyed a fine start to life back in São Paulo, with two goals and three assists to his name across six appearances.
And as much, it would appear, comes with a view to a return to Europe for next season.
As confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘The remarkable situation currently being explored and prioritised is a return to Barcelona. Nothing has been decided but I’m told discussions are taking place between the Catalan giants and his camp.’
Neymar is desperate to feature for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, therefore eager to rediscover his best form at the very top level of the game.
And Barcelona are open to the prospect of granting such a wish, with it concluded that ‘it’s possible and a tantalising prospect’.
