According to Mundo Deportivo, a legal dispute has arisen between Barcelona and Scores Sports Management, Ltd., following Ousmane Dembele’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023.

It has been suggested that the agency filed a lawsuit on June 18, 2024, claiming that Barcelona owe them €10 million in fees related to their involvement in facilitating Dembele’s move.

This sum is reportedly due for the agency’s role as an intermediary in the deal. Barcelona, however, have responded by opposing this claim, setting the stage for an ongoing legal battle.

Dembele’s agent played his part

It must be noted that PSG paid the full €50 million buyout clause stipulated in Dembele’s contract. However, the agreement also outlined that half of this amount, €25 million, would be directed to Moussa Sissoko, Dembele’s agent.

This provision was part of the terms of Dembele’s recent contract with Barcelona, which was meant to last until 2024.

Dembele’s departure came just a year after he had renewed his contract with Barcelona in 2022, following complex negotiations. His initial release clause was set at €50 million, but this was later increased to €100 million as of 1 August 2023.

Despite this, he left for only €50 million, which raised eyebrows given the sudden nature of his departure and the significant gap between the raised clause and the actual transfer fee.

This situation has now escalated into a legal matter, with Scores Sports Management, Ltd. pushing for what they believe is their rightful share of the transfer fee.

Barcelona’s opposition to these claims indicates that the club sees the situation differently, leaving room for further developments as both sides continue to argue their cases.

This legal dispute could take time to resolve, depending on how the courts interpret the contractual obligations between the involved parties.
