Dani Alves, the former Barcelona defender, recently sparked surprise among fans when he posted a video on his social media account ‘X’.
In the video, Alves can be seen training at the Ciutat Esportiva, Barcelona’s training facility, and wearing the club’s official kit.
Along with the video, the Brazilian posted a message in Spanish, expressing that great stories are written by God alone, regardless of what others say.
“It doesn’t matter what they say; the great stories if he writes alone and God,” he wrote.
The images show Alves training on his own at the club’s facilities in Sant Joan Despí. However, Barcelona sources have confirmed that the footage is not recent.
In fact, Alves is not currently training at the Ciutat Esportiva, and the video appears to have been taken some time ago.
It is important to note that Alves has faced significant legal troubles. In March 2024, after spending over a year in pretrial detention, he was released on bail for €1million.
His release came with strict conditions, such as surrendering his passports and reporting to the judicial authorities every week.
The decision to grant bail was made because Alves was no longer considered a flight risk, largely due to his well-known public figure status.
Despite the ongoing legal issues, Barcelona have maintained Alves’ place on their list of club legends. This list includes players who have made significant contributions to the club’s history.
Initially, Barcelona considered removing his name from this prestigious list due to the charges against him. However, the club ultimately decided to keep Alves on the list until a final sentence is reached.
This shows the complicated nature of his legacy at Barcelona, where his on-field achievements are still highly regarded despite the serious off-field controversies.
