Lille are well aware that retaining their star striker beyond the summer is highly unlikely, as he prepares to take the next step in his career.

Among the potential destinations, the 25-year-old has a strong preference for La Liga, with Barcelona standing out as his dream club.

Ambition to play for Barcelona

David is currently on international duty with Canada for the CONCACAF Nations League, but his future at the club level remains a hot topic. During an interview, he reiterated his long-held desire to play in Spain.

His admiration for Barcelona runs even deeper, as he has supported the club since childhood.

“It was the team I supported since I was a kid. When you grow up supporting a team, you dream of playing there,” he said as quoted by MARCA.

His performances this season have caught the attention of several top European clubs. In Ligue 1, he has been a standout performer, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in 24 appearances for Lille.

His form in the Champions League has been equally impressive, with seven goals in 10 matches.

Wanted across the Premier League

These numbers have placed him on the radar of several major clubs, including Arsenal, Juventus, and Manchester United. However, despite interest from multiple teams, David appears to have a clear preference for Barcelona.

Lille has attempted to extend his stay by offering him a two-year contract renewal, but he has turned it down. His refusal to sign a new deal signals his determination to seek a move elsewhere.

With Barcelona in need of attacking reinforcements, David’s situation could present an interesting opportunity for the Catalan giants.

His repeated statements about his admiration for the club suggest that, given the chance, he would not hesitate to make the move to Barcelona.
