With the first week of the January transfer window already behind us, Barcelona are yet to register their summer signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

This is because right now, the club is hoping for a favourable outcome from the Higher Council of Sports (CSD) this week.

But while registrations do remain the absolute priority for Barcelona, the club is open to making a few moves in the January transfer market, now that they are back in the 1:1 rule.

Two key attacking targets for Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have kept their eyes firmly on two attackers, in particular: Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

Diaz, currently under contract with Liverpool until 2027, has shown reluctance to extend his contract due to what he perceives as an inadequate offer from the Merseyside club.

His performances since joining in January 2022 have been significant, making him a valuable asset, yet his dissatisfaction could open a window for Barcelona.

With Liverpool leading both the Premier League and the Champions League, letting go of Diaz seems unlikely unless Barcelona make a compelling offer.

However, his potential interest in moving to Barcelona could sway the situation if the Catalan club act decisively.

What about Leao?

On the other hand, Leao’s situation at AC Milan has become increasingly complex.

The Portuguese winger, known for his physical prowess and impressive stats in goals and assists, has seen his relationship with Milan sour, particularly with the former coach Paulo Fonseca.

This discord has fueled speculation about his future. Last summer, Barcelona’s interest in Leao was thwarted by financial constraints and failure to meet Financial Fair Play requirements.

Yet, with Jorge Mendes, Leao’s agent, maintaining a strong connection with Barça, there’s a persistent hope that a deal might materialize if Barcelona’s financial situation stabilizes.

For now, though, Barcelona’s focus remain firmly on the registrations of Olmo and Victor.
