Spain is going through a difficult period right now, no thanks to the onset of a seasonal weather system called ‘cold drop’ or DANA.

DANA is an acronym for Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos, a seasonal weather phenomenon that has caused heavy rain and floods across many Spanish towns.

The city of Valencia has been by far the worst affected, as it has witnessed major flooding that has not only destroyed many households but also has put daily life to a halt.

The floods in Valencia even led to the rescheduling of Real Madrid’s game against Valencia last weekend. And with no relief in sight, Barcelona players have come out in support of the victims of the Valencia floods.

Barcelona players’ message to Valencia flood victims

In a video shared by Barcelona, Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres have released a joint statement on the ongoing calamity in Valencia.

“It pains me deeply to see my country being destroyed. It is sad to see the images of the tragedy,” Ferran starts.

“From Barcelona and its Foundation, we want to show our support to the people affected by the floods in Valencia and other affected communities. We share your pain. We send you a lot of strength in these difficult times,” Garcia and Araujo jointly add.

“From the club and through the foundation, we are working to support you in this emergency situation, especially in rebuilding some basic services,” Garcia further added.

It must be noted that the video is not a show of support from these three individuals but from the club itself.

It appears Barcelona are ready to lend a hand to flood victims through its Barcelona foundation and offer economic support to those in need.

Reflecting on the calamity, Ferran stated, “Last week was one of the saddest weeks of my life. Now we have to continue helping to reach the top. Much strength and long live Valencia now more than ever.”

Ferran shares a close bond with Valencia, having kickstarted his career in Valencia youth academy and spending as many as 14 years at the club before leaving in 2020.

The video ended with a final message from Araujo, stating, “Much strength to Valencia and all the affected communities. Help us to collaborate. Long live Valencia!”
