Barcelona players undergo tests as they return to training ahead of the final game of 2024-25 season | OneFootball

FC Barcelona had faced a very hectic schedule in the last phase of the 2024-25 season, and played two matches almost every week till they played against Villarreal in their last league game.

Following the 4-3 loss in that match, the Catalans had a full week at hand before they were set to play their next and the final match of this season, i.e., the La Liga match against Athletic Club. As the Blaugranes have already won the league title, there is not much at stake in this game, and therefore, Hansi Flick gave his players several days off after celebrating their success at the Montjuic.

Barcelona players return to training

These holidays have now ended, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the players returned to the Ciutat Esportiva today to report for training and to prepare for the upcoming match at San Mames.

One aspect that made this training session different was the conduct of medical and fitness tests that the players had to undergo to check their condition before the end of the season.

Hansi Flick, who has already extended his contract with Barcelona till 2027, wants to remain abreast of everything ahead of the next season, and wanted these tests to determine the physical load and the fatigue levels of his players. These tests are expected to provide the coaching staff with valuable information as it continues to plan for the next preseason.

Several players unavailable for the next game

For the match scheduled for this Sunday, the Blaugrana team will definitely be without Jules Kounde, Marc Bernal, and Ferran Torres.

On the other hand, Ronald Araujo’s participation in this game is not totally ruled out, as it remains to be seen whether he can overcome the knee discomfort that kept him from playing against Villarreal. The Uruguayan was among the players who underwent these tests at the Ciutat Esportiva today.

After today’s session, Barcelona have two more training session scheduled ahead of the last game of the season, on Friday and Saturday.
