Having already wrapped up the La Liga title, FC Barcelona can now focus entirely on their preparation for the next season and on their plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Blaugranes would be looking to reinforce several areas of weakness in their team, and one such area that is generating some activity in the club offices is that of the goalkeeper.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen has just recovered from a long-term injury, and there is some uncertainty about his medium-term fitness. Meanwhile, the Catalans are also trying to renew Wojciech Szczesny for another season, but there still has not been an agreement, and it remains to be seen whether this renewal will be finalised.
In such a scenario, Fichajes reports that Barcelona are already looking at more promising and reliable options in the market, and one player on whom they have set their sights is the Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The goalkeeper is currently playing for Aston Villa and is seriously considering a change of scenery this summer. Already 32 years of age, he is looking to make the leap to a bigger team and has already expressed his desire to play in La Liga in the past.

This desire has made Barcelona attentive to the World Cup winner, as the Catalans highly value both his experience and his competitive nature.
While the addition of Martinez would be quite an exciting addition to the Blaugrana squad, getting him would not really be easy for them. This is particularly the case as some other sides are also interested in incorporating him into their squad this summer.
One such club is Manchester United, where Andre Onana has been unable to provide the desired level of stability. Thus, the fight for Martinez’s signing is expected to be quite intense, and it remains to be seen who will be the top two goalkeepers at Barcelona next season.
