Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Sunday joined two of the greatest La Liga players of the modern era in an exclusive goalscoring club.

This comes owing to his exploits in Barcelona’s meeting with Deportivo Alavés.

Lewandowski for his part proved himself match-winner once more this afternoon.

En route to a hard-fought 1-0 Blaugrana victory over the aforementioned Alavés, the Polish veteran notched the only goal of the clash on the hour mark.

And, as alluded to above, such endeavours proved enough to etch Lewandowski’s name into an altogether exclusive club.

As revealed by statisticians Opta, the former Bayern Munich man is the third-fastest player to reach 60 La Liga goals in the 21st century (90 appearances).

The only two players who managed as much in fewer games were Cristiano Ronaldo (61) and ex-Barca frontman Luis Suárez (66).

This season alone, Lewandowski has now racked up 30 goals across all competitions.
