A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona received contact from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, over a potential January move to the club.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Dani Olmo as the player in question.
Spanish international Olmo of course found himself in something of an unprecedented situation in Catalunya’s capital this past winter.
This came after the former RB Leipzig man’s registration status for the 2nd half of the campaign was thrown completely up in the air.
At one point, owing to Barcelona’s long-discussed financial problems, it looked a real possibility that Olmo would be forced to watch on from the stands through the summer.
And in the midst of as much, the 26-year-old was the subject of an approach on the part of one of European football’s leading clubs.
As per Sport:
‘The first club that offered to take him in so that he would not be left without playing was Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The Citizens saw him as an ideal player for their scheme.’
In the end, this approach came to nothing, but goes to show just how highly thought of Olmo is across Europe.
