Awful news stemming from the first-team camp at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Saturday evening been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that a member of the backroom staff at the club has suddenly passed away.

Barcelona were of course scheduled to return to action in short order, having welcomed Osasuna to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.

After the respective line-ups had been announced, and with just half an hour to run before kick-off, however, the fixture was suddenly postponed.

And an insight into precisely why has since been provided.

The info comes courtesy of DAZN, who, as part of their broadcast of the postponed matchup, have confirmed that an unnamed member of the Barca medical staff died suddenly this evening.

As much is understood to have occurred at the team hotel, leaving the Blaugrana’s players, coaching staff and all associated with the club in a state of shock.

Joan Laporta and co, in turn, requested for tonight’s planned action to be called off.
