Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena finds himself at a crossroads, as two La Liga clubs—Real Betis and Celta Vigo—have expressed interest in securing his services, claims a report from SPORT.
It is known that after recent developments at the club, Pena’s future at Barcelona is now uncertain.
This was supposed to be a breakthrough year for Pena, especially after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s serious injury. However, things did not go as expected.
Szczesny’s presence has hurt Pena
Despite being given the chance to start, Hansi Flick eventually lost faith in him and opted to rely on Wojciech Szczesny instead.
With Barcelona now prioritising Szczesny’s continuity at the club, Pena’s future has been thrown into doubt.
The 26-year-old academy graduate had long been viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Ter Stegen, but his current situation has left him frustrated.
He is eager to prove himself as a top-level goalkeeper in Europe, which could prompt him to consider an exit from the club.

Although his contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, several clubs are already keeping a close eye on his situation. Galatasaray had shown interest in the past, but now, Real Betis and Celta Vigo have emerged as possible destinations.
Betis, who have a strong relationship with Barcelona following the early loan deal for Vitor Roque, could see Pena as a valuable addition to their squad.
Meanwhile, Celta Vigo are also monitoring his availability, as they are yet to decide on the contract renewal of Vicente Guaita. If the veteran goalkeeper does not extend his stay, Pena could become a prime target for the Galician club.
Ultimately, the decision will rest with Pena himself. He could choose to stay at Barcelona and fight for his place, but with Ter Stegen set to return and Szczesny likely to remain, his chances of regular playing time appear slim.
If he prioritises game time, he may put himself on the market in search of a new challenge.
From Barcelona’s perspective, allowing Pena to leave could be beneficial, as it would help them reduce their wage bill and create financial flexibility for future signings.
