The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have long begun work towards tying three leading members of the club’s first-team squad down to new contracts.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Gavi, Pedri and Ronald Araújo as the trio in question.

As things stand, all three of these players are due to see their terms in Catalunya’s capital come to a close in the summer of 2026.

Barcelona, eager for none to enter into the final year of their respective deals without having renewed, are therefore working behind the scenes with the players and their representatives, over fresh terms.

The hope on the part of Deco and co. is that all three will ultimately go on to sign all the way through 2030.

In the cases of midfield pair Pedri and Gavi, the understanding is that that both have every intention of staying put in Blaugrana colours for the long-term.

Defender Araújo’s situation is a little less clear, but ‘there is a perception in him of a greater predisposition to renew, after the doubts he began to have last winter’.
