Barry Ferguson Shoots Down Dave King’s Rangers timeline

It seems there’s a little difference of opinion brewing at Ibrox, as Barry Ferguson doesn’t quite agree with former chairman Dave King over how long Rangers’ rebuild will actually take.
King, speaking earlier this week, claimed the scale of the changes required at Ibrox would take longer than most fans might like. He referenced the 49ers takeover process and suggested that new leadership might not be able to properly start their work until mid-June, meaning a drawn-out summer rebuild.
But Barry Ferguson clearly doesn’t share that patience. The Ibrox legend, who’s been fighting to prove himself worthy of the job full-time, believes there’s absolutely no reason why Rangers can’t move a lot quicker than that. In fact, as we discussed here, Ferguson has urged the board to act immediately, pushing for decisions on recruitment, coaching staff, and his own future to be made as soon as possible.
We’ve already reported that Ferguson called for clarity weeks ago, warning that leaving things to the last minute will only hurt Rangers in the crucial Champions League qualifiers. And let’s be honest, baby, he’s not wrong.
Rangers have been stuck in limbo for weeks now. While fans watch Celtic surge toward another title, our board seems to be dragging its heels again. Ferguson might not be the long-term answer – we’ve covered why that could backfire here – but at least he’s showing a bit of urgency.
King’s words might be wise in theory, but this club doesn’t have the luxury of time. Every day wasted hands Celtic more of an advantage for next season. Ferguson’s not everyone’s pick, sir, but his message is bang on the money.
With the board silent and the fanbase growing restless, all eyes are now on John Bennett and the incoming Americans to prove they actually have a plan. Whether that includes Ferguson or not, only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure – standing still isn’t an option for this football club.
Let’s see if they listen.
