The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has given its verdict on Benoît Tavenot, following his actions in a Ligue 2 match last week.

On Wednesday, the disciplinary committee suspended the SC Bastia boss for 12 matches, four of which are suspended, meaning he won’t be around for his side’s next eight games.

Last Friday, Tavenot took down Pau’s Jordy Gaspar (27) in the latter stages of their Ligue 2 contest and wound up being sent off as a result.

Bastia’s goalkeeping coach, Dominique Agostini, meanwhile received a two-match ban for his involvement in the altercation.

The Bastia boss may be fortunate only to get an eight-match ban, seeing as he could’ve gotten up to six months for what is deemed as anAct of Brutality” according to the Fédération de Football Français’ (FFF) disciplinary act (Article 13.1).

However, the commission decided against that lengthy suspension, given that Gaspar hadn’t been hurt in that incident.

Earlier this week, Bastia president Claude Ferrandi would receive “total support”, though there’s no word on whether or not these sanctions will result in him being sacked.
