How things happened in home clash against Wolfsburg

Five minutes into the game, Bayern should have had the lead, but Kingsley Coman could not convert from very close range. The French winger had another chance to open the scoring, but his effort from inside the box was too easy for the keeper.

With 20 minutes on the clock, Bayern did take the lead. Picking the ball up in the middle of the pitch, Goretzka drove forward, before unleashing a shot into the bottom corner. However, the lead did not last long. Wolfsburg would equalize following a set piece situation, with a curling effort past Neuer. This was the visitor's first effort of the game.

Seven minutes or so before the interval, Bayern restored the lead. After Kimmich intercepted a pass, the ball fell to Olise, who cut inside and weaved past a couple of defenders, before striking from the edge of the box. The finish was quite central, and should have been kept out by the keeper - but no complaints from Bayern.

With three minutes of the first half remaining, Kane intercepted a clearance, but his shot from close range was deflected wide. Down the other end, Wolfsburg nearly scored with their second shot of the game, but an effort across goal went wide.

In first half stoppage time, Kimmich had the ball in the back of the net - but it was disallowed after a VAR check, after striking his arm. 2-1 to Bayern at the break.

Five minutes into the second half, it could have been 3-1, but Sane headed just wide from a superb Coman inswinging cross. Three minutes or so later, Kane also went close with a header, but could not convert Kimmich's cross.

With just over an hour on the clock, Bayern did have a third goal. From the left-hand side, Olise whipped in a free-kick, with Goretzka nodding the ball into the bottom corner, for his second goal of the game. Impressive work from Coman to win the free-kick, shoutout to him. Midway through the second half, Serge Gnabry replaced Sane, in Bayern's first change of the game.

Minutes later, Bayern missed a golden chance to make it four goals. After a long ball forward, there was a defensive mix up, allowing Coman to race through on goal. With just the keeper to beat, and no pressure from defenders, he placed his shot wide of the target.

With just over a quarter of an hour to go, Kane fired over from a Laimer cutback. A real shame because he had started the move himself, after receiving the ball deep from Kim. The pass was slightly behind him, but will still be disappointed. Very soon after, Musiala replaced Coman.

There were around ten minutes left on the clock when Wolfsburg had an opportunity thanks to poor Bayern defending, but Neuer saved the blushes by making a good save. With two minutes left, they did get a goal back, setting up a nervy finish for the hosts.

Barely two minutes later, Bayern had another chance to make it four. From the right-hand side, Kane whipped in a cross for Gnabry, but after cutting inside, his effort was saved. In stoppage time, Wolfsburg had a big opportunity from a corner but fired just over. After four minutes of added time, the referee blew, and Bayern had an important three points, making it 9/9 points since returning from winter break.

The game management was a bit frustrating. Although the Gladbach win was only 1-0, Bayern had so many chances at the end and if there was to be a second, it would have been for Kompany's side. Then a 5-0 win against Hoffenheim. Yet today, they could have feasibly conceded twice in the closing stages.

Nevertheless, all that matters is another win. Die Roten keep ticking in the Bundesliga, but the focus will shift to the Champions League in the midweek as they travel away to face Feyenoord.
