Barcelona have long been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, with his contract expiring at the end of the ongoing season.

The 29-year-old has been in talks to renew his contract with the Bavarian giants but has yet to commit and is assessing all his options.

As such, links to Barcelona continue to persist, while Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the German international.

Bayern still waiting

Bayern Munich had wanted some clarity from Kimmich about his future in January but there has been no decision from the midfielder.

As such, the Bavarian giants’ director, Max Eberl, has now spoken out on the situation, stating that the club are prepared to give him some more time but cannot keep waiting forever.

“Of course, we know we cannot wait forever, but we want to give Joshua some time and allow him to fully consider whether Bayern is the club he wants to continue with,” said Eberl, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo.

Continuing, the Bayern chief added: “I do not want to have to convince a player to sign a contract; I want him to do so with full conviction.”

Kimmich sees Barcelona as one of his preferred destinations in case he decides to leave Bayern Munich.

However, considering the plethora of options at Hansi Flick’s disposal in the midfield department, it is unlikely to be a priority for the Blaugrana, especially with his high salary demands.
