Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich have made an interesting loan recall ahead of the coming Club World Cup. A player not on Bayern’s early loan recall list will be joining the German record champions at the forthcoming tournament in the USA. Versatile young attacker Maurice Krattenmacher will have the chance to represent the senior team in the competition.
The 19-year-old is a product of a talent developing partnership Bayern have with Bavarian neighbors SpVgg Unterhaching. Bayern officially acquired him from the suburban Müncheners last summer, immediately loaning him out to promoted 2. Bundesliga side SSV Ulm 1846 for the season. Though Ulm ultimately couldn’t avoid relegation back to the 3. Liga, Krattenmacher put together a solid season.
Three goals and eight assists in 32 2. Bundesliga appearances for die Spatzen saw Krattenmacher boost his estimated market value from €2.5m to €3.5m this season. The teenage talent has not been capped at Germany’s highest youth level, but has represented Germany 21 times at U20 level and below.
“Maurice Krattenmacher has developed, as we had hoped very well at SSV Ulm,” Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund noted in a club statement. “Now we’re bringing him back to bring him a step closer to our professional team at the Club World Cup. He comes from the Munich area and grew up here. Our fans want players like him.
“Maurice will gain experience in our first team for the first time over a longer period in the USA,” Freund’s statement continued, “After that, we will discuss with him what his next steps might be.”
