Bayern Munich are anticipating being without first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer when they face Inter Milan in the Champions League quarter-final next month.

According to information released by the club and via FCInterNews.it, the Bundesliga league leaders have been dealt a blow with news that Neuer has suffered a relapse of a calf injury that has kept him out since early March, after being forced off against Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16.

Bayern had hoped to have their captain back in goal for the visit of Inter in the first leg of their tie on 8 April, but he may now even miss the return leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza the following week.

Meanwhile, back-up option Jonas Urbig has pulled out of Germany U21s’ squad during the international break due to a foot injury, leaving Bayern short of options.

Neuer joined the Bavarian club from Schalke 04 in 2011 and has made 554 appearances, winning 11 Bundesliga titles and the Champions League twice.
