Bayern secure 33rd Bundesliga title, Harry Kane wins his first trophy | OneFootball

A 2-2 draw between Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen earned Bayern Munich their record 33rd Bundesliga title and Harry Kane his first-ever trophy.

Bayern took on RB Leipzig yesterday, hoping to close the show, but found themselves two goals down thanks to a sublime effort from Benjamin Sesko and a goal from Lukas Klostermann.

However, a late dagger from Leipzig stalwart Yussuf Poulsen forced a 3-3 draw, postponing title celebrations. Not that Kane was complaining after missing the game because of a suspension.

Leverkusen could have at least extended their reign as Bundesliga champions for another week but fell to a 2-2 draw with Freiburg today.

Bayern and head coach Vincent Kompany wrestled the title back after their disastrous showing last term. They are deserved champions.

Kane will be excited after earning his first major club trophy. He has scored over 450 career goals, but always came up short on trophies.

Now, he finally has a trophy for his cabinet. The England international captain played a starring role, spearheading Bayern this season with 36 goals and 12 assists.

Last term, he recorded 44 goals and 12 assists but could not get his hand on the trophy thanks to a remarkable unbeaten campaign from Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has scored 80 goals in 89 matches for Bayern and will back his team to secure another trophy next season.

Leverkusen will likely lose Alonso this term to Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund continue blowing hot and cold.

Kane (24 goals) should be able to add another Bundesliga Golden Boot at the end of this season. The 31-year-old has six more goals than Leverkusen man Patrick Schick with two games to go.

Bayern can now look ahead with confidence after another imperious season. Kompany has silenced early-season doubts, and for Kane, it is a long-overdue taste of silverware.
